SMACKS IN COLLISION AND LOSS OF LIFE

The smack Fish Girl, of Brixham, arrived at Milford Dock yesterday morning, and reported that at 3 a.am. she collided with the smack Escort, of Brixham [sic], eighteen miles east from Lundy Island.  A huge hole was cut in the Escort's side, and she sank almost immediately.  J. Parnell, mate, and Frederick Haycock, boy, were drowned, but the remainder of the crew, after a struggle, boarded the Fish Girl, and proceeded to Milford.
