 Accidents and Incidents

From an unknown local newspaper, dated around 6th April 1944:

An action of local interest came before M. Justice Pilcher in the Admiralty Division of the High Court on 29th March, when a claim was made by the owners, masters and crew of the steam trawler "Bellerophon" against the steam trawler "Dandolo" in respect of salvage services performed on the 16th November 1942.

The "Bellerophon" is owned by Messrs Consolidated Fisheries Ltd., Swansea, and the "Dandolo" by Messrs Milford Fisheries, Milford Haven.  The services were performed off the Old Head of Kinsale, south west Ireland, where, it was claimed, the "Dandolo" was disabled in very heavy weather through the failing of her propeller, and was picked up by the "Bellerophon" and towed into Kinsale.

His Lordship made an award of one hundred pounds in favour of the Plaintiffs, and judgement was entered accordingly with costs.  The solicitors for the successful Plaintiffs were Messrs Price and Kelway.

From the West Wales Guardian of Friday 9th November 1945:

The Pair Fishing Company learnt on Thursday that one of their vessels, the steam trawler "Bellerophon", had gone on the rocks at Kilronan Island.  Little damage was done, and the trawler was refloated this morning (Friday).  All of the crew are safe.
