GLOXINIA Log Book entries

Pages 14 and 15 of the GLOXINIA's Official Log Book for the period July - December 1905

The entry on p.14 reads:

"At 5. P.M. On Sunday July 31 - 1904 sighted S.T. 'Upton Castle' (L.O. 152) about 160 miles W. hf S. of St Annes lights, with shaft broken.  The Skipper asked me to tow him in, we sighted Smalls light Mon. evening when the skipper of Upton Castle requested to be taken to Swansea which we did and safely docked her on tuesday at half past 10 a.m.

The entry on p.15 reads:

"Date and Place of Casualty - 9/9/1904 125 miles W. of St Anns Milford.

Nature of Casualty  - (S.T. Amroth Castle) L.O. 161. Collision whilst heaving up our gear.

Cause of Casualty - Attempting to speak us and struck our stern causing it to leak.  Amroth Castles bulwark and gallows damaged port side aft. "
