Notes:  Donum Maris is the Latin for "Gift of the sea". 1920: Launched as DONUM MARIS (YH227) for Yarmouth owners. 17 Mar 1940: In company with AVONDEE A826, bombed by German aircraft without damage; the mate and second engineer fired at the enemy aircraft with rifles.  ["The Times", Monday 18th March 1940.] 7 Oct 1952: Sank after grounding on the Baa of Hascosay at the entrance to Mid Yell, Shetland.  No loss of life.
