Norddeutscher Lloyd S.S. SPREE

Towed into the Docks on 28th December 1892 after breaking a propeller shaft at sea.  Repairs were carried out in the dry dock by Oswald and Sons, of the Castle Pill shipyard.

[The "Spree" (built 1890, 6966 grt) was rebuilt in 1900 (8278 grt) and renamed KAISERIN MARIA THERESA, before being bought and transferred to the Imperial Russian Navy in 1904, as the auxiliary URAL.  On 27th May 1905, as part of the Russian Far Eastern Fleet, she was sunk by Japanese gunfire at the Battle of Tsushima.]
